Best service for Domain name registration?
What is the best and cheap service for registering a domain name? In past, I used NameZero plus account for which they charged me about $15 for an year, but I would say that it is not good and is not a "real" registration.
Well, for German domain names netbeat works pretty well, they charge about 10$ US a year for a simple redirect and about twice as much for a small domain. They are pretty much focused on .de domain names (even though they also sell .net and .com domains) and I am afraid their homepage is only available in German. They help you to transfer a domain name you already own, though, which would be quite helpful in your case. Maybe you can contact them via email (I am sure their staff speaks English).
yeah, i have my (.de) domain hosted at netbeat. i have never had a problem. online administration makes everything really easy too.
Check out gandi [ http://gandi.net ] - $10/year, YOU own the domain name, not gandi (you might assume this is the norm, but it isn't!), free redirect and email forward service, free secondary DNS service.
I just setup my latest domain using http://www.godaddy.com -- and it worked out fine -- prices are reasonable, and you can reconfigure it via the web if you change hosts.
A second vote for godaddy. For me it was nine dollars (US) per year. I'm also using a dynamic DNS service. That was pricy at one hunded dollars for 2 years. The dynamic DNS provider I'm using doesn't make me a sub domain. So even though I have a cable modem and a dynamic IP I can always be found. It's pretty much used only for the email server. So far it's been more reliable than AT&T's email.
I've used Verisign, Register.com, Yahoo! domains, and Godaddy. I recommend Register.com. Their user interface is excellent -- it is one of the most user-friendly sites I've seen, and I've had none of the hassles with them that I've had with other registrars.
Second vote for http://www.gandi.net . The company was created by people who did not understand why domain registration was so expensive, so built their own inexpensive one.
I'm a happy GoDaddy customer (http://www.godaddy.com).
Yeah, http://Gandi.net (EU12/year, that's about US$10.5) is the best for simplicity and price (includes forwarding, email forwarding).
Has anyone tryed web expert2000? They offer some fantastic services including multingual domain registration and language translators. The interface is one of the best ive ever seen on a website ( www.hostcompanies.com/domain.htm ).
Do some research before using Gandi.net. I will avoid them like the plague from here on out. I registered, their email redirect worked for one week. After I changed my email address with everyone and every listserv, it stopped working. I have sent over 20 emails and filled out all their complaint forms. They don't reply. They don't care.
