Joel on Software
Visual Basic.NET & mySQL.
You can download a managed ODBC provider from somewhere on MSDN; not quite sure where.
Take a look at http://www.mysql.com/articles/dotnet/ - it gives a good overview of your options.
A managed ODBC provider will be included with the next version of the framework (currently in beta). There are two managed MySql providers available. The first one is from MySQL AB. Distributing the engine/driver with a commercial software package can be expensive. (And all this time I thought 'open source' meant 'free'). Their provider is not yet complete, but apparently it is usable.
Minor clarification: the ODBC managed provider shipping with the 1.1 Framework is already released software; what's new is that they're rolling it into the Framework. But you can download it to use with the 1.0 Framework from http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?URL=/downloads/sample.asp?url=/MSDN-FILES/027/001/668/msdncompositedoc.xml
