Deploying an Application and Web Application

Hi all,

I have a solution with a Web Service and a Windows Service that uses this Web Service. I wanted to have a setup project that could deploy the Web Service and ask a question wether or not to deploy the Windows Service.

The problem is that I can't find out how I can create a setup project to do this. I'm using Microsoft's Visual Studio .Net IDE and it presents me with an Application Setup, which I can use to deploy the Windows Service and a Web Application Setup, which I can use to deploy the Web Service. But in either I can't seem to find a way to deploy both applications in the same project.

  Thanks for any help,

Can you make two, and get one setup program to call the other?  (Not pretty, I admit :-)

If I can, I don't know how.  :(

You should be able to chain the two installer package files together by using a Custom Action in the first to fire up the second.

Alternatively, in theory you could code the installation steps for the windows service in Visual Studio and use a Custom Action to invoke it. That way, everything would be in one installer package file. It's probably more of a technical challenge than simply chaining the files together though.

Try this article to get a background on Custom Actions:,293823,sid8_gci945897_tax293033,00.html

Good luck.

Have a look at Inno Setup... It's a nice installer and free too... It allows you to customise it via code...
