Server Application

I'm working on a .NET project involving a server application that communicates with an ASP.NET website and a Web Service via remoting.  I'm curious as to my options in hosting the server application.  The server needs to be running at all times.  (it maintains state)  The obvious answer is to make the server a windows service, but I would like to know if I have any other options.

Windows service, of course. The only alternative is to have an executable that runs under the user process, which is a fabulous idea. Services are so easy to build under .NET, that there's no reason not to go that way.

Yes, you can host your remoting objects in an IIS application.  Look in the developers reference of the docs.

Or you can host them in any other application, but a win service or IIS app seem to be the most robust.
