I am a newbie who just want to play around and learn building some GUI windows applications in C++

I have done web programming (PHP) and learned a few tricks and concepts.

But I am not sure which IDE I should buy.

I downloaded a trial version of C++ builder (Enterprise)
and liked that,

But I can't find any trial version of Visual C++ Standard Edition on the Microsoft site, Just seen som screen shots.

Does anyone have any suggestion for which to go for.

Both C++ Builder Personal and Visual C++ Standard have
almost the same prices in my country, but if some of you would like to share some experiences with these programs I would appricate it.

Borland C++ builder is truly awful. Riddled with bugs and bizarre totally non-standard behaviour, largely due to the fact that it's a pretty thin C++ veneer over a Delphi environment. It might work for trivial projects, but for anything of any size at all, run away. Run far, far away.
