.NET Book Recommendations Please?

Hi Folks,

Just starting out in ASP.NET from a VB6.0 background, and I wondered if anyone has found any outstanding books on the topic.

Thanks in advance...

I found this book very helpful.  It's one of those books which you can just read the first four chapters which explain the overall architecture, and then read any subsequent chapters on detailed areas of interest.

I have heard that Essential ASP.NET ( ) is the best ASP.NET book around, I haven't read it but am about to get it. I currently have Professional ASP.NET by Wrox which was a good intro but I didn't find it covered some of the architectual decisions you should be making when creating larger web applications.

Essential ASP.NET by Fritz Onion is getting a lot rants, including mine. It's a great book, covering alot of details, without skipping or overdoing anything.

I was introduced to ASP.Net by Francesco Balena on VB.Net by MS Press. It puts it in it's proper place, however the coverage is light.

I haven't read any ASP.NET-specific books, but if you're also looking to get a feel for .NET in general I'd strongly recommend Jeff Richter's ".NET Framework Programming"

It won't help you with ASP.NET per se, but in the long run it'll probably help a lot of things make more sense.
