Fixed width font bug entry

What's the rationale behind the use of a fixed pitch font to enter bug details? Given that the entry is then shown up using a variable pitch font, this seems a little odd.

Ok. I can kinda understand that. I guess. It refers to people being unable to control a mouse in situations like "Fillmore St". I suppose Joel is right, even though I'm a programmer, not a people.

So then answer this one: why is the edit field I'm typing in *right now* not a fixed pitch font? :-)
