Using areas

Up to now we've been using Areas to distinguish between bugs and features.  Since this is built in to FB 3.0, areas are now freed up for other purposes.  We're trying to decide how (or even if) to use the field.

Survey: for bug tracking (not cust service, etc.), what do y'all use areas for?

Joel/Michael: how do you use areas for tracking your own bugs?

For FogBUGZ FogBUGZ we have "big" areas: Website (Basic Functionality), Documentation, Setup, Online Trial.

For CityDesk FogBUGZ we have smaller areas that describe features of the product: Article Editing, Main Window, Pictures, Scripting, etc.

The truth is I'm happier with the bigger areas, because the information is more useful to capture. When we have a bug in CityDesk it's not that useful to create a filter that searches for, e.g., all scripting bugz. On the other hand the big areas in FogBUGZ are very nice; when I'm working on SETUP I can see all the Setup bugs in one place.

Choose areas that you will want to create filters based upon, otherwise it's a waste of time.
