Creating Forms in CityDesk

I am investigating CityDesk - it is a nice application. I found a nice site, which led me to Darren Collins' resource site on CD.

I have some questions that I could not finds answers to.

Can I create forms on CityDesk? Is it easy to do so - we will have users that are not techically minded.

The forms can be forwarded by email - i.e. it does not have to be stored in a database server for pick-up.

In my case, for search forms or web-mail, I just copy the html they give me into the HTML view of CityDesk artcle. That's really all you have to do. There's not form design feature in CityDesk proper.

This one is as simple as you get:

Atomz gave me the HTML, I pasted it in.
<!-- Atomz Search HTML for Euphonic Productions -->
<form action="" method="get"><input size="15" name="sp-q" /><br /><input type="submit" value="Search" /> <input type="hidden" value="AMTOMZSECRETCODE" name="sp-a" /> <input type="hidden" value="ISO-8859-1" name="sp-f" /> </form>

Thanks tk,

How about forms such as users feedback forms?

i.e. text boxes for user names, drop down box for states etc

And multi-line box for comments?

Very doable. For a form illiterate like me, here is the way it works: My web hosting service does form mail. So, I go to their help page and they tell me to "copy this HTML" which is what I do.

The point is that CityDesk can do forms.

Here is a mail form page:

Here is the HTML:

<FORM action= method=post><INPUT type=hidden name=recipient>

<INPUT type=hidden value= name=redirect> <INPUT type=hidden value= name=missing_fields_redirect>

<BR><FONT size=1>Your e-mail address (required):<BR></FONT><INPUT name=email>
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 border=0>
<TD><FONT size=1>First Name</FONT></TD>
<TD><FONT size=1>Last Name</FONT></TD></TR>
<TD><INPUT maxLength=30 size=15 name=FirstName></TD>
<TD><INPUT maxLength=30 size=15 name=LastName></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 border=0>
<TD><FONT size=1>City</FONT></TD>
<TD><FONT size=1>State</FONT></TD>
<TD><FONT size=1>Zip</FONT></TD></TR>
<TD><INPUT maxLength=28 size=15 name=City></TD>
<TD><INPUT maxLength=2 size=2 name=State></TD>
<TD><INPUT maxLength=7 size=10 name=ZIPCode></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 border=0>
<TD><FONT size=1>Contact Phone</FONT></TD></TR>
<TD><FONT face=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica color=#000000 size=1>(<INPUT maxLength=3 size=3 name=DaytimePhoneAreaCode>) <INPUT maxLength=3 size=3 name=DaytimePhoneExchange> - <INPUT maxLength=4 size=4 name=DaytimePhoneLast4> Ext. <INPUT maxLength=5 size=5 name=DaytimePhoneExt></FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<P><FONT size=1>Subject:<BR></FONT><INPUT name=subject><BR><FONT size=1>Your message:<BR></FONT><TEXTAREA id=msgBody name=msgBody rows=10 cols=40></TEXTAREA></P>
<P><INPUT id=Send type=submit value="Send E-mail" name=Send> </P>
<P><INPUT type=hidden value=email name=required> </P></FORM>
