Variables and Magic Names in "HTML" files

A really useful addition to next CD version would be the ability to put Magic Names and Variables into "HTML files" - and have them substituted correctly.

This means we can write PHP or javascript or HTML or whatever fragments that don't need hard URL coding - preview and publish will both be consistent.

Allowing substitution of variables means we can isolate target email addresses and other elements from the "code".

This will add no more complexity to users who don't need this - but will great for those uf us who do.

I think you can do this now. Select View -> File Types, and make sure that you have configured .html files to 'allow code'. This means CityDesk will substitute variables and magic names inside them.

Is this what you were looking for?

Yes - didn't realise that was in there. RTFM,  I guess :)

Would be nice if the "built-in text editor" had the "Insert Variable" function that is available when editing articles.
