Variables in scripts

I am in the process of creating a site that has a three levels of sub directories and am trying to find a work around that will allow me to use a common template and common scripts for the index pages for each level of the site... ideally I want these to be completely and dynamically generated.

Ideally I would attach "/*" to the "thisFolder" keyword, alternatively I would use a field to store the folder name and insert the value into a script. No go with either of these options.

At present I am using fields to store the scripts for sections of the page and editing each one to suit it's position in the directory structure which is sub optimal.

Has anyone found a work-around that allows me to avoid this level of effort?

Have you looked at blog_template_bob_bloom on on the Citydesk Template site?

Bob makes good use of the (thisFolder) and {$ include to index multiple folders.

Thanks, I downloaded the template and had a look; there are a number of good items in there but, regrettably, I am still left with the same problem : (

At this stage I am pressing on with a "hard wired" solution.
