only 1 byte of data?  Sounds great.  What do you do with the byte when you're done with it?  Recycling is a very important and socially conscious step, you know.  You should consider that.

Yeah, but that's a *compress* byte. Unzip it a few times recursively and you've got all the data you want. <grin>

oops -- *compressed*

Forget it. It's not funny anyway ...

Q: How do you want to write a device driver?
A: I don't want to write one.

Ah its so good to make such _complicated_ linguistic jokes about someone whose first language happens not to be english but who may in all likelihood know several other languages.

Lucy girl, who is your target?

well the simple answer to this is:
mov al,data
mov dx,portnumber
out dx,al

But really in general the better thing to do is to read the documentation and find a sample device driver thats close to the thing you want to talk to.

Lucy is the family name, Simon the given name, hence the gender is male not female.

OK Lucy baby, now answer the questions.

"mov al,data
mov dx,portnumber
out dx,al"

Although a ring 3 app doesn't have access to ports like that, so under Windows you need to use the DDK.

This is crazy.  I worked with a guy once who was named Tan Ngoc Nguyen.  We were car wash guys though, so I guess it's not you.
