Books on Entrepreneurship

Hey guys,
I was wondering: Is there a "the book" for entrepreneurship? Sort of the K&R for C, but for entrepreneurs?

Or any interesting books that will really capture me, and teach me things at the same time -- none of the "Entrepreneurship for dummies" type-books.

Thanks,
Ian

I just bought a book called "Thinking like an Entrepreneur"  (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0967162467/qid=1092339847/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-4245799-0367340?v=glance&s=books)

The paperback version just came out.  I haven't read it yet, but it seems to be the best I could find via Amazon's reviews.

The following book isn't about entrepreneurship _per se_, but it's worth reading:

"Marketing Without Advertising: Inspire Customers to Rave About Your Business to Create Lasting Success", by Michael Phillips, Salli Rasberry, and Barbara Kate Repa

One thumb down for "Thinking like an Entrepreneur". That's one badly written book in need of an editor.

Patrick, that Guy Kawasaki book hasn't come out yet.

I read an earlier book of his on evangelical marketing. It was nice, but fluffy.

I just read MouseDriver, which is pretty good read. I'd say its info-tainment; it's not going to tell you how to start a company, but it will help prepare you for what kinds of things to expect.

You can read "Built to Last" and create another 3M or IBM.
The problem is, you are supposed to starve for at least
10 years before things get any better.

Or you can read autobiography by Richard Branson, founder
of Virgin (records, music, cola, airline,...)

Very informative, entertaining and some parts read like a spy
novel. The guy did a lot in his life but this book packs
everything you'd expect from a guy like him in first few
hundred pages, but than the rest just lifts you in a business
war you'd expect to read in a book about Microsoft and
Netscape.

So much for the web and "frictionless" commerce .

You're kidding right? You need natural intelligence, courage, and ambition.

I enjoyed reading "Bootstrap,
Lessons Learned Building a Successful Company from Scratch" by Kenneth Hess.  Ken Hess discusses the "ups and downs" of starting a software business.

MouseDriver is not worth $91. I bought a like-new hardcover copy used on amazon last month for $1.73 plus shipping. That's about what it's worth. It's a fine read but it's not like there are tremendous insights in it on anything.

Just wait for another copy to become available. Don't pay $91.

For those interested, I can sell you my copy for the rock bottom price of a low low $48.15. And I'll throw in shipping for free -- that's almost half off the amazon price!

MouseDriver is ALSO available for $2.55 on amazon.com -- jus search for it and you'll find the cheaper version.
