Regression Analysis

I'm looking to incorporate a fancy type of regression analysis (stepwise) in a new software package (implemented in VB).  I'm investigating 3rd party components from SPSS, SAS, and fmsinc.com.  I'd rather buy than create.  Does anyone have other suggestions for good places to purchase statistical components?

I use SPlus, and they even have an opensource clone named R (by Gnu).

R is great for software components.

Here's one package, the page has a bunch of links to others as well:

If I understand the links properly (I'm not at the same programming level as most people here), they are focused on web development and are open-source.  I need to integrate the code into my license-protected, standalone PC software.

Thanks,
Mike

ReportingEngines have an ActiveX component called Formula One:

As I know, it provides all the functionality of Ms Excel (or almost), so I presume it includes regression, too. However, it seems a bit expensive and I wouldn't pay all that money just for the regression tool.

I'd say regression isn't that complicate; you could code it yourself quickly--you just need a good book on statistics.
