Visual C++ 7/7.1 Profiler

Visual C++ 6 used to come with a code profiler.  It seems to have been removed from Visual C++ 7/7.1

Can anybody reccomend a good profiling tool for Visual C++?

Thanks.

VTune.

Quite frankly the built-in profiler in 6 was almost pointless anyway so it's no great loss.

Isn't this called Visual Studio Analyzer now?

The Compuware DevPartner Profiler (a free download).

AMD Code Analyst is also pretty good (and free -- and works even with Intel CPUs for basic profiling tasks).

I'd go with VTune if you don't mind the $700 cost (read: if you work for a company that is paying the tab).

Another vote for VTune - it's been really good for me in the past.  They also have a fully functional trial version that works for about a month or so if you want to give it a go.
