beowulf in Virtual PC

I wanted to experiment with setting up a beowulf cluster.  Is this even possible in Virtual PC?  Does FreeBSD play well with Virtual PC?  Thanks!

How many machines are in your experimental setup?

Well, not very many.  I would maybe have 4 machines with 128 MB RAM each.  I just wanted to install the software on the boxes and see if I can get the environment up and running.  I'd be installing MPI, LAPACK, BLAS, Petc and PIM.  My goal is just to run the example parallel code that comes with the different packages.

I know it sounds really lame to run a cluster designed for speed in a virtual environment, but i really just wanted to get a feel for setting up the machines and installing the packages.  I don't have any spare machines laying around, and thought Virtual PC might be able to help me out.

Should be able to get the clustered, although I don't have any experience with using Virtual PC in that setup.

You might be better off using one of the cluster Linux distros like ClusterKnoppix or Tablix on Morphix rather than FreeBSD.

It should be possible. No problem at all.
