The recruiters have nothing to do anymore, so, to kill time, they call you

Ignore my ignorance

When you actually get an offer you'll know if jobs are back.

What about the East Coast... are the tech jobs back yet...probably the market won't be as it was in 1999-2000. correct ?

I dunno about other folks on the east coast (if you consider Pittsburgh east) but I've had a number of recent contacts from recruiters as well as from people I've worked with. I'm not really looking but it's good to know just in case...

East coast has been bouncing since last year.  I have several offers etc last year and begining of the year.  Financial service sector has been really strong.

Jon H. -

I'm in Connecticut and I finally managed to land a job 4 months ago after a 6 month "vacation".  I'll agree the market isn't what it once was, but it's getting better.  MUCH better than it was last summer.

On the east coast, at least in the DC area, there are ads for job openings, but mostly for people who have a security clearance.  I don't.

I haven't been getting any calls from recruiters.

Back in 1998 when I moved form Pittsburgh to DC ( best move of my life ...so far), the jobs in the Dc area were so many, you can pick and choose from 20 IT jobs. Now the game has changed, it's all about how many clearances you have...
