Quality of WOrk Vs Rates

just a curious qns,
if you are a contract worker, does your rates determines the quality of your work?

In reasonable times, the rates help me decide if I want the work or not.  Once I've accepted the work, I do the job to the best of my ability (with the notable exception of browsing web forums.)

Caveat: I haven't been in a position (yet) where I had to take a contract just to stay fed.

While it doesn't affect the quality -- I always try to do the best job I can -- it *may* affect the timliness of a particular job.

Them: We need this by May.
Me: We're booked until after June.
Them: We *really* NEED this by May.
Me: I can squeeze you in, but it will be after hours and weekends. We normally charge time-and-a-half for emergency-after-hours-and-weekend-work.
Them: Do it! Now! Get started on it yesteday!

YMMV
