Microsoft IE 6 popups
Surely theres a way to disable these ? I'm not talking about Messenger popups. I've disabled those in Services.msc. Nor am i talking about regular website popups. Most Pop Up killers can deal with those. I'm talkin about the annoying iLead ads and others associated just with IE. Regular popup killers do not disable those ones

Myron, he's not talking about the regular popups, the google toolbar won't work.
weather.com *sometimes* has those ads. Also see them a lot on the about.com sites.
It seems that MS build these ads into IE 6. But i've to find anyone that suffers from them, or a cure.
If you don't mind moving over to Mozilla Firefox you can set Flash to only display when you click on it.
Are you sure you don't have some spyware installed on your machine? Have you run ad-aware or spybot destroyer (both free)?
slate.msn.com is bad about it.
Mathew - i'd rather stick to IE ( i know i know ).
You can use IE security zones. Go to Tools->Internet Options->Security. Change the Internet zone to a custom level with just about everything disabled (in particular, scripting and ActiveX). If you find a site that doesn't provide the functionality you want, add it to the trusted or restricted zones. They can be configured as desired. There are some utilties out there to make it easier to add sites to the trusted and restricted zones.
worth a try doug..thanks
Unfortunately , messing with the security zones just made life more awkward when browsing...this isnt the answer.
ad aware finds nothing you fucktard! they already mentioned it above.
The ads you're talking about are Rich Media ads, made with Flash. They only show up on I.E. running on Windows platform.
I have this problem with the ilead.itrack crap.
I get the same problem http://ilead.itrack.it and I am seeing more of this spyware tools don't seem to fix it.
i get the ads, and am using gmail, bu ti got them before i signedup so thats not it
I get them now . can cope with shutting down add windows for free ringtones . but the kids are now getting adds for swingers sites..etc... this only started on installing this new PC . old one ( still same software & OS) was fine.
I had same problem with popups from iLead that come on any site (even google, microsoft, ...) I ran HijackThis and found that there was a registered dll named twaintec.dll. This dll is used to show thess popups (www.twain-tec.com) so I used regsvr32 /u twaintec.dll to remove it from IE and then I deleted the file. Since no more popups :)
