Company logo redesign, logofactory.com -- tips?
We're working on a redesign of our site, which must include a new company logo. The original one was a hack-job that I put together two years ago, and it's *very* long in the tooth now.
Check out http://www.designoutpost.com/ there are a bunch of really good designers there. Setup a contest, tell em' what you are looking for, what logo's you like etc. And in no time you'll have a buch to choose from.
Funny, the design outpost 404 (at least I think it is a 404) says "This is not the page you wanted". They missed a trick there, along Obi Wan lines.
I second designoutpost.com - they have a stable of CHEAP and GOOD designers. I used them for my logo. The only tradeoff is speed, these designers are pretty busy. Edit the /%A0 crap out of the end of the URL after the slash and it will work.

Just me (Sir to you)
Yes designoutpost.com is great .. got my comany logo done there too.
Funnily enough, we are after a logo as well, and have just placed a competition on the DesignOutpost due to all your recommendations.
This is a perfect task to outsource
We used www.logoworks.com and were quite pleased. They use a team approach where they put 3-5 designers on a project. We saw lots of concepts and really liked a few of them.
Take a look at http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=logo+design. Lots of design providers. I particularly like the portfolio at http://www.ars-logo-design.com
