My company keeps moaning at me about using my training budget.
I was thinking what might make me more valuable out there. I may soon go back to contracting.

What would you recommend?

Im a web developer who is strong on HTML, Javascript, Perl, PHP, ASP, SQL and have dabbled in most things.. e.g. XML. (which I can never understand the value of? It just wastes time. No?)

Anyway, looking at some jobsites these skills seem popular:
Oracle or SQL(Oracle or SQL server), Java, .Net

I think having a Oracle certificate would be most valuable.

What do you all think, do you agree and what other areas would you recommend.

1) ASP.Net & SQL Server 2000
2) Oracle

Doing Java may be worthwhile, but you'd be starting down a new career path as a newbie instead of trading on what you already know.

To be honest, I think you shouldn't be asking us.

You should study the skills you find most interesting.  Otherwise, you run the risk of working with a skill you don't care about, which sounds like a pretty boring life to me.

I recommend that you investigate each of these skills, and choose the one that appeals to you most.  They're all useful.
