pink spotted screen of death

I was trying to surf the net on my brother-in-laws computer the other day, running xp.
Clicked on IE, it started, entered the url and hit the go button...instead of the blue screen of death I (honestly) got a pink/red spotted white screen.
Has anyone else seen this?

Is that what the Microsoft guys meant by "no more BSOD" ?

beats me :)  nice trick if it was.  It acted just like the BSOD, and I eventually gave up and restarted the machine...never seen it before or since...

This is a feature that was announced a few years back:

...or something else, like a VIRUS!?!?

It's a shame really, in-law's computers have a "habit" of doing things like this.

I assume you'll be the one fixing it :)
