wincvs

cvs [login aborted]: connect to 192.168.1.220:2401 failed: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Please help me on this matter?

Looks to me like your cvs connection failed because the target machine actively refused your logon.

In other words, ask somewhere more appropriate

Unix or Windows CVS Server?

It looks like your CVS server isn't running, or is running on a different port.

Happy to be working

Is it a Windows Workstation (Not Server) ? Nt Workstation or 2000 workstation has a limit on number of simulteneous tcp/ip connections.

I think one reason for this message can be If your cvs server is running on a Windows NT workstation, and it has reached the limits of connections.

If CVS wasn't running, wouldn't you expect a timeout error, rather than this "actively refused" thing? A timeout error is what I get if I change my CVSROOT to a computer not running CVS.

Could be that Windows limit thing.

Another thing I would check is to see if there is a firewall running on the CVS computer or on some computer between the client and the server.

"A timeout error is what I get if I change my CVSROOT to a computer not running CVS."

It depends on whether the other end is protected by a firewall that ignores inappropriate requests. Talking to an unprotected (or hole-punched) PC, a TCP RESET would come back immediately when the service isn't running.
