ASP.NET Session management design

Does anyone have a link to a resource that will cover best practices when developing ASP.NET apps that utilize Session state?  I am developing an application that has to maintain state across several pages and I want to get some information on what to do/not to do when it comes to using session state.

I would recommend reading the .NET SDK documentation.  There are several articles in there about session state and when and how to use it properly.  Simply Search for Session State.

One school: never use session state.

Other school: rumble in the parking lot with the anti-session sissies!

You think I'm kidding. I'm not. :-p (I love that phrase, and I feel no guilt for stealing it.)

One thought about session state with ASP.Net - if you use forms login or you have any kind of progressive page navigation, then putting login and state credentials in the session means when you're debugging every recompile means logging in again and navigating to the page you were on again.

I've got two projects - one keeps credentials in the session, one in cookies. After working with both for many hundreds/thousands of hours, I'm moving the session one to cookies first chance I get.

No need to resort to two projects. Just use out of process session state.
