Need company logo redesigned

Hi,

We are looking to have our company logo redesigned, and was wondering if anyone can provide some possible leads for designers.  We are a small startup, so budget is very tight.  However, after the horrible experience we just had with a small graphic design shop, we may have to reconsider our strategy.  Any thoughts?  What have other people done?

Thanks

Garett

http://www.1800mylogo.com/ has a $200 package that fits the bill perfectly.  You can see examples of their work on the site.  A friend of mine got a logo for his (now defunct) coffee shop.  The logo was the best part of his whole operation! :-)

Post your requirements as a project on www.elance.com  Then pick the best bid. I've never had any problems doing it this way.

Or you could use http:www.freelancers.net which is a UK-based site, similar to eLance, except that it doesn't chatge any fees or commissions.

I've used it before, both to offer projects and to bid for work, and it seems pretty good.

Try http://www.thelogofactory.com

Pretty decent logos they've made.

Threadjack alert!

Isn't it kind of weird that the company mentioned above, 1-800-MYLOGO, named their company with a non-functioning telephone number (only 6 letters)? I understand the precident (1-800-FLOWERS, etc), but if your name doesn't work as a phone number, is it really a good idea.

If you go to their web site, you'll see that they do have a toll-free number; but it, by necessity, isn't the same as their company name (it's an 888 number even).

So isn't their name choice just going to confuse prospective customers?
