My son is 2 1/2.  This means he is old enough that I can enjoy the humor in the article, but not so old that I cannot recall those seemingly endless days of sleeplessness and confusion and frustration.

Thanks :).

Thank you very much for this.  I found it hysterical.  I have a son who is almost 4 and a new son who is almost 3 months and is ocassionaly sleeping though the night. (Thank you, God!)

There was little mention of the Scheduler daemon.  If you can get that working right things go a whole lot smoother.

I have a wonderful 7 week 3 day old daughter and got a good laugh out of this. My favourite is the nomenclature "diaper buffer". Indeed.

Mine is 5 now, so the Macro programming is starting to pay off.

The idea of a 'Core Dump' still brought a tear to my eyes.

I just had premature (by 13 weeks) twins in December 2002. They would have had a usability score of about zero when they were born, since they were hooked up to breathing machines and feeding machines and burping machines and crying machines and pooping machines, I think.

Anyhow, even better than the "Heuristic Evaluation of the Usability of Infants" article is another baby-related website (although it has nothing to do with software development, the writer of it is a game programmer, I think). Check it out at http://www.ironycentral.com/babymain.html . It's a yearl-long weekly column about this guy dealing with having a newborn. You owe it to yourself to at least read Week 1 - "The Unbearable Grossness of Being."
