Can anyone recommend a reasonably efficient free web mail services preferably with a good spam filter? I am tired of using hotmail and yahoo's crappy services.

Take a look at www.fastmail.fm .

They have a fastmail only forum at www.emaildiscussions.com, a wiki at http://wiki.fastmail.fm/wiki/index.php and a blog at http://blog.fastmail.fm/log/index.php

Matthew Lock,

I believe i understand the concept of paying for services. I just asked a simple question.

Use your lame sarcasm somewhere else dude.

I didn't think that was sarcasm, just plain fact.

Think about it. Free webmail services are popular, cause they're, well, free. Therefore lots of people go to them. And because they have to make money somehow, they need to publicise themselves so advertisers will give them some cash. Therefore spammers find out about them more quickly, think "aha - bigger target audience" and latch onto them like flies.

I have never had any problem with Yahoo,(I get one spam every couple of months) but I only use it as a backup email address. Most ISP's have web access to your POP3 account for when you're travelling.

Web mail is so slow compared to POP3 that you should only use it if you think you'll soon be changing ISP.

I really like myrealbox.com. They offer free webmail+pop3+IMAP with nocomercials.
