Testing 3rd party

A couple of recent threads expound on the usefulness of unit testing to make sure that everything works, etc. However, while it is trivial to write tests first for your own code, what about 3rd party libraries? I'm sure we've all run into some bug or other in the tools we use. What is the policy you all use on tests for non-in-house code?

Our policy is requirement, vendor, integration, system and acceptance tests.

'We' have no policy on how to write unit tests of any kind (only that software be developer tested before integration).

IMO [y]our unit test of a 3rd party library is implicit in the unit test of [y]our interface or software which wraps or uses that library.
