Load testing of the c/s systems

Working as a loadtesting consultant I'm just wondering:
- Is your c/s system as scalable as the market (customers) demands it?
- What efforts did it cost to you to get it scalable?

Please, share your thoughts :)

Does the silence mean the topic is irrelevant?

Or just nobody cares for performance? nor running loadtests?

Joel, in case this is offtopic, - please, erase it.

I guess it's something you want to catch during design.  If you leave it to implementation, then End of Game.

So what you're asking is if people were able to fix a fucked system.  "Why isn't double the hardware resulting in double the capacity?"  Well, what's holding stuff back?  Replicate the database, loadbalance the servers, whip the hamsters in their cages faster, whatever is needed is what is done.

Oh! You're absolutely correct about the basic approach.

From my personal experience about 98% of the loadtesting engagements I was involved during the last 3 years failed to reach the goal. However, probably, the reason for my presence there was the system performance problems.

Thus, I'm curious to hear the *success* stories about large scale enterprise systems. Please...
