Whidbey and Managed Direct3d

I have a .NET question that you might have an answer to... I am trying to run Whidbey and Managed Direct3D 4.0c December Update, but I get an InvalidCallException in the second tutorial from msdn on this line:

device.DrawPrimitives(PrimitiveType.TriangleList, 0, 1);

I couldn't find much about this on google, so I thought I'd ask here.

Thank you
Manuel

From the readme file for December update:

"What's Coming...

...
Support for Visual Studio 2005 (aka Whidbey) for samples, tools and shader debugger
..."

Patience...

But isn't there a way to download an older framework version and somehow point to it instead from within vs.net 2005?
