asp.net code behind

can any .net language be used to do the code behind in  asp.net?

How about IronPython?

Yes, any language can be used for code behind, presume you compile the code ahead of time (i.e., the "codebehind=" style of code behind, which is the default). As for just in time compiling (i.e., inline script on the page, or using the "src=" style of code behind), I know that support can be added, but it's not there by default (no idea if the IronPython people added that support).

The IDE (GUI designer) might choke, though. Never actually tried it. If you are bypassing the IDE, then it should be no problem.
