Shrinkster

Kyle Tinsley designed Shrinkster the other day (http://neopoleon.com/blog/default.aspx), a .Net clone of TinyURL. I was just wondering how the URL Rewriting is done so that that the URL is absolutely minimal? Did he write a HTTP module or handler? If you have any ideas thank you for your contributing answers! :D

An HTTP handler mapped to URL pattern "*". You also need to make sure that all requests are mapped to the ASP.NET ISAPI filter in IIS.

I have been trying to do some similar ASP.NET URL rewriting with asp.net for a while now and have not had any luck.  Then, I see that Kyle pulled it off with shrinkster.  any non-file value in the root will kick back a finle not found message.  yet http://shrinkster.com/x is valid.  Hmm.  I still cannot get it to work even with brad's suggestions.  Is there a particular version of IIS required.  TIA
