VS.NET ASP.NET Web Project Directory

It seems by default VS.NET creates a web project as a subdirectory under the IIS wwwroot folder... and is also accessed as such:

i.e., http://myserver/myproject/default.aspx

I know I've read, however cannot find now, articles about changing the configuration so the project resides within the root, not 1 level down.

Any tips? pointers? solutions? Thanks!

I haven't seen any articles about it, but there's a 3 minute MSDNTV episode about how to do it.

(also a related episode at http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdntv/episode.aspx?xml=episodes/en/20030304VSNETOK/manifest.xml )

I did this recently. When VS asks for the project location when you first create it, just enter http://localhost/ . It will automatically add the project's name to the location you entered, but you can delete that part and be on your way.

Good luck,
Chris
