Design View vs. HTML view

Anybody out there know how to set VS.NET so that HTML view is the default for aspx pages.

Design view is miserable in that it keeps mauling my HTML.

Click on HTML Designer, General
Set all three of these values to "HTML View" for your sanity. :)

Yeah, they really went lazy on the Designer.  They had to ship a WYSIWYG designer for marketing purposes, but it sucks really bad and mangles your code.  To get around that fact, they added the default option of auto-formatting your code every time you switch from the designer.

And then the designer does lovely things like delete all your event wireups anyways, so it quickly becomes 100% counter-productive.

The designer is only useful for people who a) don't care about the quality of their HTML and b) only care about IE as a target browser.
