Joel, is there anything you miss about working at a larger, company?
Hmmm. The bummer about being an entrepreneur is that you end up doing lots of stuff (from bookkeeping to keeping the office tidy) that distracts from my actual profession of software development. Until we get to a certain size, it's not worth hiring a bookkeeper, so I spend two hours a week in QuickBooks that I'd rather be spending in Visual Studio.
Would it be too costly in terms of time to get an intern to do those things? Maybe even a high school student interested in going into a college business program or starting their own business?
There are bookkeepers that work as consultants part time, you can hire one for probably 100 bucks a week or less.
