Now Google'd have more than a (two actually) link

You've got me curious, Joel, as to where you landed on that word, autotrephination. I've searched about all the online dictionaries that I know of, and none of them seem to have a reference. Of course, you mentioned that already, albeit obliquely. So, where in the incestuous world of books did you come accross that literary token?

More importantly, what does it mean, and where does it come from? I thought I'd ask you before I consulted a lexicographer or two.

auto- as a prefix means doing something to oneself.

For example, autoemancipation - see http://www.wzo.org.il/home/portrait/pinsker.htm

trephination should be in your dictionary. Or you could read today's front page of Joel on Software where I discuss the meaning.

Thanks, Joel. I did read your inference but I couldn't see what you might have meant. So I wandered aboard making a song and dance about your post.

May I ask where you landed on that word?
