Is it just me, or...

is BUGtrack incredibly similar to FogBUGZ ?

See the demonstration at the following URL:

Any thoughts on this "coincidence" ? ;)

Interesting.  They have obviously seen and liked FB. :)

Vastly more expensive, though, unless you have a really big shop.

The one thing I saw that was kinda neat that we don't have in FB is the "roles" feature.  But I can live without it, considering that we have a permanent FB license for the same cost as 4 months of Bugtrack online fees.

They cloned FogBUGZ pretty carefully, even taking care to completely copy our text word-for-word.

They were, however, kind enough to change the text after we pointed out that it might be a copyright violation. Thus all their witty malapropisms like "You won't make mistakes only if you won't do anything."

Hmm, interesting...
Yes, it looks like they’ve not only cloned FB, but also cloned many features from the oncoming FB-3.0 as well.

But it is probably just a coincidence…
Looked on their huge updates history:

Are they charging any upgrade fees?

There is also a problem with this Forum software – it looks unstable. My yesterday’s message disappeared. I hope, FB is more reliable than forum.

It seems to me that above mentioned "malapropism" is just a translation of russian proverb 'Не ошибается только тот кто ничего не делает'

I believe Joel meant 'malapropism' as in, "there's something resembling an idea here, but they've mangled their tenses and clauses so badly that it's almost impossible to find." Which is not technically a malapropism, but you get the gist. :)
