Versioning ?

A bug appears on a certain project with a version 1.0.0, how would i let the tester know that it is going to be fixed in release 1.0.1. I have the field "fixed for" Is there also a field that identifies the version of the software on which the bug is encounterd ? I do not want to create x number of projects that identies al possible versions.

The "Fix For" field reflects the version for which the bug will be *fixed*

As for the version in which the bug *appears*, that field is called "Version"

The problem I have with using the Version field is that is free form, and does not match the list of versions in the Fixed For list.

This means there can be typos when selecting the version.

This is also not a filterable field (since it is free form) which means I can't say "Show me all defects found in 1.0.1". 

I think there should be a linkage between the fixed for and version fields (and that version should be renamed to "found in" or something like that).
