Active yet resolved status

We have managed to have a number of cases that have both the status of Active yet the latest entry in there is "Resolved (Fixed). All of these entries have the exact date and time. I remember that I was doing a lot of mass setting of problems to fixed at the time and can only think that it is related to that - have you seen this before?
