Updating images

Is there a way to update an image without changing its magic name?
I currently use a template with some graphical buttons. When I update the text of a button I have to delete the original image, insert the new image and update all templates that use the button. The actual file name of the button stays the same, but of course the magic name does not...

Don't delete the original image, just drag the new one into the same folder in CityDesk from the explorer. CityDesk will ask you whether to overwrite or not, tell it yes. Voila, magic name stays the same!

Eric, you don't say which version of CityDesk you are using. If you are using any beta or the release candidate of 2.0, Israel's tip will work.

On the other hand, if you're using 1.0, it's a little bit harder. Look here for a description on how to do:

Other solution is to do it with variables.

I usually change the "image header" of my site. The foglink is in the pageheader variable, this way I only change the link and thats all.

I am using the release candidate for v2, so the drag and drop works. Thank you very much.
