aspect ratio

Is there a way to reduce the size of a jpg using the mouse to drag; and, keeping the aspect ration constant?

I tried to click the CTRL key whilst dragging but that doesn't work.

My jpgs are pretty small -- 60kb. So I don't want thumbnails.

Thanks!

In CityDesk 2.0, use the built-in image editor and use the "scale" menu item.

Does the "scale" menu item reduce the actual jpg, or just reduce what is shown on the screen.

I want to link to the picture for those that want to see the actual size.

Thanks Joel!

It reduces the actual size of the JPG.

For thumbnail purposes, I would recommend making two copies, one at each resolution. That way the thumbnail itself downloads faster, but the full image is still available.

Bob you may be interested in one of the photo/contact sheet tools that were recomended in the "Photo Album Software" topic that was discussed in JoS recently.

Dave, Joel,

Thanks for your replies!

I don't want 10k thumbnails of 60k jpgs.

I'll resize my pics in FrontPage and manually input the height/width into CD.

Is it a big deal to program a <ctrl><left-click> drag to keep the aspect ratio constant?

It is, sort of, since that's not our code running at that point, it's Internet Explorer code.
