Buttons at the bottom of the editor

Is there any really good reason to have "Normal view" and "HTML view" as _buttons_ at the bottom of the page? Couldn't we simply use Article View and HTML View as two tabs in place of the one Article tab at the top?

Technically, those are two views of the article, which is a slightly different concept than the different parts of the article. In UI it's usually a good idea to use different interfaces for different concepts to help people understand that they're not the same thing. But, like much in UI, it's a totally debatable point.

Indeed, as always.

BTW, how do I turn off the button bars? I use menus and keyboard, so that's a bunch of wasted pixels to me.

We don't have a way to turn them off, but you can switch to small icons on the view menu.

Can we put that switch on the list somewhere? I never use button bars, so that's a lot of wasted pixels to me.
