Firewalls

I'm trying to upload files from behind our home firewall to our school machine behind a firewall.  I have a secure FTP program that works for regular FTPing, but I am having the same problems we have with a regular ftp program.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I think there's a "passive transfer" checkbox in the Locations set up area for working behind firewalls.

Passive mode doesn't do the job in all cases, as I told Joel when I bought CityDesk. I really think CD needs a more sophisticated setup facility, like regular FTP applications have, or like Dreamweaver. I need to specify firewall port and host ip-address, and that is not possible in the current versions of CD.

At the moment, for uploading CityDesk files I have to bypass the firewall via a second, direct connection to the internet.

I think that if you set the FTP proxy stuff in Internet Explorer, those settings will be transparently used by CityDesk.
