getting CSS hooks

Still diggin'

So. In an article there are these "fields" that correspond to the various input fields in the article edit window -- bodytext, sidebar, extra1, extra2, etc.

I haven't thoroughly hacked through these but I notice that the sidebar field generates a <span yahda-yahda-yahda> mySidebar text, etc.</span> with a lot of style stuff.

Can I assume the other fields work the same way?

Wouldn't it be nice if, in the template design area, you could assign a class and or an id attribute value to these fields and decide wheter they would be wrapped in a block-level or inline -- a <div> or a <span>?

Maybe I missed something. Go ahead tell me it can be done.

Thanks.

Ok, Ok. I'm still diggin' but I'm asleep. Second looks and I see how it works.

Goodnight Mrs. Kalabash, wherever you are.

Sure, just do it in the template:
<div yadayada>{$.body$}</div>
<span yadada>{$.extra1$}</span>
etc.
