CityDesk is intuitive, auto e-mail links...

I just spent about 20 minutes trying to get an author's name to be a link to an e-mail address.

I looked in the help files and there was no mention about e-mail links.

The insert a link dialog has no provisions for adding an mailto: link, and there doesn't seem to be any "city script" way to work with e-mail links.

So, I finally decided to do it with just a text, e-mail the author at insert@email.address type of thing. When to my joy, the text changed to an e-mail link! Guess I was making it too hard; looking for a manual way to handle the link. If I had just gone ahead and typed it, it would have happend by itself and saved me 20 minutes of time.

For the future, I would like to see an option for a an Email: field added to the "Properties" page for the author like you do on this forum.

Gil,

For the future, if you ever get stuck where it *doesn't* make the email an automatic link, then just select the email address, choose insert link and type "mailto:gil@mailserver.com" where it normally says "http://"

This just makes the HTML code that looks like this:
<A href="mailto:gil@mailserver.com">gil@mailserver.com</a>
