Google to create Blogs tab...

Google is creating a "Blogs" tab, and probably removing web logs from the main search results.

I wonder if Google will count CityDesk sites among them... I wonder if I should remove the blogger powered part of my site. I wonder if I should remove the RSS feed if I want to remain within the Google search results.

I wonder how Google will treat CityDesk sites.

That article is rubbish. It's a miracle anyone reads Orlowski anymore, he just seems to write whatever he wants with no regard for truth.

It was amazing and a bit frightening to see how this sheer speculation (to put it nicely) was taken by readers to be actual fact.

Well, this part was stated as fact:

"Google is to create a search tool specifically for weblogs."

The rest was speculation, I understood that. I'm not familiar with Orlowski.

In business (and war) it's smart to listen to your opponent, even if talks rubbish, because he might gain some ground that you thought belonged to you. Knowing his way of thinking makes it easier to fight him later. Dismissing him as a fool just weakens your own position.

I'm very sorry--I realize my comment came off sounding too harsh. I wasn't referring specifically to anyone here. I was thinking more about the web-wide reception of the story, at a number of weblogs as well as Webmaster World (where I would have expected people to know better). Withing hours of the story coming out, people were going on and on as if the "delisting" of weblogs were a fait accompli. I certainly didn't mean it as a criticism of anyone here--just a general observation.

Pete - no biggie.

I don't follow any blogs, and only hang out @ webmaster world occasionally. I go to blogdex and daypop so I get the popular links, but completely out of context. I know what people are talking about, but I have no idea what they're saying.

"Google allows people to search Web pages, as well as search specific types of content such as news sources, shopping sites through its "Froogle" service, Usenet groups. Soon the company will also offer a service for searching Web logs, known as "blogs," Schmidt said."
