importing articles from non-CD database?

I'm going around in circles on this and there's probably a somewhat simple[r] solution...

I have a Jet (MS Access) database with a single table that has articles stored in it as memo (long text) fields as html, along with some misc columns for date created, author and unique rowid.  I'd like to create a corresponding article for each row.

Approaches I've considered:

1) direct database update
+ rename the cty file to mdb
+ add my table to that file
+ run some code that imports the data to the tblArticle table and does fixup on tblArticleSet and tblStructure

BUT -> the actual article text is in oleArticle and I don't know what OLE object it is and hence how to manipulate it

2) multi-step w/ tools
+ explode my table into individual html files with some VB code
+ use CD to import the html files into CityDesk
+ use CopyBoy to convert the html files to Articles

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance - I'll go futz with the template in the meantime :).

If it's any help, you can grab http://www.larkware.com/basBLOB.bas - somewhat edited MSDN code to convert the OLE objects to strings and back again.
