Feature Request: Convert bmp to jpg/gif

I don't have imaging software. FrontPage converts imported bmps to jpg. Would be nice if CityDesk could do it as well. Too cumbersome to fire up FrontPage just to do an image conversion.

Ifranview is free does all kinds of image conversions and is probably considerably less cumbersome for that than fireing up frontpage. Someone here pointed it out before.

Thanks. When you mention it, I remember I downloaded it sometime very long time and many reinstallations ago...

I'll try it, but it would still be a good thing if CityDesk could do it for me.

I'l look into how hard it would be to do.

Writing GIF's requires a license from Unisys because they have a patent on that. They tend to charge on the order of a quarter of a million dollars for a license, but their patent expires this June. My inclination is to tell people to use PNGs instead of GIFs; all modern web browsers support PNGs and there's no license issue. After June we can start supporting GIFs.
