Font color for image captions

I find working with image captions a little annoying.  First, the font color does not adhere to color attribute of the body tag.

Next, I set up some variables that represent common colors on the site.  I switched to HTML view in the Article editor to set the font color of the caption of an image using one of the variables.  This worked fine the first time.  However, the next time I go to HTML view and then back to Normal view, CD changes the variable in the HTML to some hard-coded approximate of the color.

Any advice?

Thanks

From my previous post:
"the font color does not adhere to color attribute of the body tag."

...sorry, don't know what I was smoking when I typed that.  Too much FrontPage on the brain.

If you want to control the font of the caption on your site then put an entry in your style sheet like the example below:

caption {
    font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 8pt;
    color: #808080;
    background-color: white;
}

and you can keep it separate from the main body:

body {
    font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 10pt;
    color: black;
    background-color: #DCDCDC;
}

Hope that helps.
