Newbie Question

I'm not a web designer so I apologize if this is a stupid question- in the simpleblog.cty template when I preview the output in Internet Explorer everything looks perfect.  However in Opera and Netscape the left colored navigation bar does not show up at all.

What is wrong?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

The sample template encodes colors in RGB triplets, which only Internet Explorer understands.  The RGB values need to be replaced with hexadecimal numbers.  If you don't know what that means, that's OK.  Here's how to fix it:

Open the sample blog template in CityDesk, and make sure that you are in Designer Mode (check for this in the "View" pull-down menu).

On the tool bar, click on the "Variables" button.  Among other things, you should see four color variables.  Replace the values as specified below:

BlogBackground #ffffcc
BlogForeground #efd9b8
BlogTitleColor #def2b7
NavColor #79aa9a

The result should look exactly the same in Internet Explorer, but should also now work in other browsers (Opera, Netscape, etc.).

Incidentally, if you want to play around with different colors, you might find this page useful:

Thanks Mark for the question and Alex for the response.

I have replaced the RGB color references in the simpleblog.cty template to hexadecimal colors.

You can download the changed template here:
